What you'd need to provide
Six things. If your site has all of them a cooler will almost certainly work. If it's missing one, it's better for both of us to know that now.
A standard outlet, close by
120V, 15 amp, within six feet
It shouldn't share a circuit with anything that cycles hard, so not a microwave, a fridge, or a copier. We'll never run an extension cord to a cooler and you shouldn't let anyone else either. It's a genuine fire risk and it voids most equipment warranties.
About seven square feet of floor
Roughly 30 inches wide by 33 deep
Plus a few inches behind it for air, and it has to sit level. We measure before committing to anything, so you never end up with a delivery that won't fit.
A door and a route it fits through
32 inches of clear width, all the way in
From wherever the truck can park. Stairs are usually a no; an elevator is fine if it takes 800 pounds. This is the most common reason an install falls apart on install day, which is why we check it first.
Somewhere people already stop
A break room, a staff kitchen, a waiting area
Not a hallway nobody lingers in, and not somewhere the public wanders past unsupervised. Where it goes matters more to how it performs than almost anything else does.
Enough people to make it worth it
Around 25 on site on a normal day
Below that we'll usually say so rather than take the placement. Sites that run evenings or nights are a different calculation though, because at 2am there's nowhere else to go.
Someone to let us in
About fifteen minutes, weekly
Whatever access arrangement suits you works for us: a regular time, a code, signing in at the front desk. Nobody needs to supervise us after the first visit.
Where it doesn't work
Not a polite hedge. These are the placements we turn down, and it's cheaper for both of us to know now.
- Hybrid offices where attendance moves week to week
- Apartment campuses with no single common area
- Spots the public can reach with nobody around
- Anywhere with a staffed café thirty feet away
Somewhere running evenings or nights is a different calculation though. At 2am the nearest alternative being closed changes the math on a site that looks too small in daylight.
